Photograph taken from an album of prints compiled by English motorist, motor car manufacturer and aviator Charles Stewart Rolls (1877-1910), showing the first 12 hp Panhard motor car to be imported into England. Rolls sold imported French cars, Panhards amongst them, from his London showrooms, including Lillie Hall in Fulham, before founding Rolls-Royce Ltd with Sir Frederick Henry Royce (1863-1910) in 1906. Rolls-Royce Ltd developed into one of the world's most famous motoring and aeronautical companies.
