Description
Poster produced for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), promoting rail travel to the Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate where people 'took the waters'. Here, visitors gather around the central counter of the Central Hall of the Royal Baths where the waters were dispensed. The elaborate buildings were opened in 1897 and boasted Islamic arches and screens, glazed brickwork, arabesque painted ceilings and terrazzo floors imported from Italy. Artwork by Christopher Clark (1875-1942). Printed by Bemrose & Sons Ltd, Derby & London.
