Photograph taken from an album of prints compiled by English motorist, motor car manufacturer and aviator Charles Stewart Rolls (1877-1910), showing a Panhard on sale in the showroom of Charles S Rolls & Co. Rolls was a keen driver and was well known in the motoring world, having competed in many early motor races. After establishing a succesful busines asembling and selling imported French motor cars, including Panhards, from showrooms in London, he founded Rolls-Royce Ltd with Sir Frederick Henry Royce (1863-1933) in 1906, creating one of the world's most famous motoring companies. From December 1904, Rolls' showrooms sold cars made by Royce Ltd bearing the Rolls-Royce name.
