© Science Museum / Science & Society Picture Library

image details

This replica vase was sculpted by the Science Museum's Interactive Development Unit as part of an illusions exhibition designed for display in the Millenium Dome. Its shape shows the profiles of the Queen and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, forming an optical illusion. The original Royal silhouette vase was made by Kaiser Porcelain to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee of 1977.
