Description
Oil painting by Opie of Luke Howard (1772-1864). Despite setting up a firm manufacturing pharmaceutical chemicals, Howards & Sons Ltd, Howard is probably best known for his contribution to cloud clasification. A keen amateur meteoroloigist, he was made a fellow of the Royal Society in 1821, the highest accolade they could bestow him with.
