A full size working replica of Stephenson's 'Rocket' built by Michael Satow and Locomotive Enterprises Ltd was shown in Kensington Gardens, London, on the 150th anniversary of the Rainhill Trials in 1979. The original Rocket was designed and built by Robert Stephenson (1803-1859) and George Stephenson (1781-1848). It won the Rainhill Trials of 1829, a competition to find the most efficient locomotive for haulage on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. This view shows the locomotive being packed away, and the Albert Memorial silhouetted against the twilit evening sky.
