Description
Chromolithograph by Vincent Brooks Day & Son Ltd of a caricature by Leslie Ward, better known as Spy, from 'Vanity Fair' magazine. As well as making fundamental improvements to the design and machinery of torpedo boats, Sir John Isaac Thornycroft (1843-1928) built the first torpedo boat 'Lightning' for the Royal Navy in 1877.
