Description
Tony Ray-Jones (1941-1972) created most of his images of the British at work and leisure between 1966-1969. Travelling around Britain he photographed life at street level, including parades, demonstrations and the public during their leisure time. His inspiratiuon came from a fascination with defining the English way of life and observing behaviour and customs. His work commented on society with a mixture of sadnes and humour, revealing the eccentricity of the English identity.
